Maavah Kandu is a channel site near Guraidhoo in Laamu Atoll, in the central Maldives, where a break in the reef connects the atoll's inner lagoon to the open sea. Kandus in this part of the Maldives typically involve tidal exchange through the channel mouth, which is what draws divers to this type of site. The dive reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated advanced. Divers have reported barracuda, batfish, trevally, and even thresher sharks passing through the channel. Laamu is less visited by dive operations than the more northern atolls, with access generally arranged through local guesthouses or liveaboards.
