About this site
Mactan is an island in Cebu Province in the central Philippines, separated from Cebu City by a narrow channel and connected to it by bridges. It sits within the Visayas, an area known for its network of reefs and channels between islands, and is also the historical site where Ferdinand Magellan was killed in 1521 during a clash with local forces led by Lapu-Lapu. Diving around the island typically takes place off its eastern and southern shorelines, where several small operators run trips out to nearby reef areas.
