Mandarinfish Forest lies off Ishigaki Island, part of the Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture at the southern end of Japan's island chain. The site is reached by boat from the harbors on Ishigaki, an island known for its coral coastline and channels between the main Ryukyu chain and Taiwan.
