About this site
Mexico Rocks sits in the shallow patch reef area off the northern part of Ambergris Caye, inside the barrier reef in Belize District. It is a popular snorkel and shallow dive stop reached by short boat rides from San Pedro, made up of coral heads scattered across a sandy, sheltered lagoon area behind the reef crest. The site tops out at around 3.5 metres, rated a beginner dive with light current and great visibility over the reef bottom. Divers have reported butterflyfish, lobster, parrotfish, pufferfish, and sea turtles among the coral heads.
