About this site
Mile Marker sits along the Big Sur coast of Monterey County, California, on the stretch of shoreline south of Point Lobos. Dive access points along this part of Highway 1 are often marked informally by roadside mile markers rather than formal place names, which is how sites like this get known by number rather than a proper title. Divers here have reported bat stars, blue rockfish, giant sea stars, Pacific purple and red sea urchins, and white-spotted rose anemones among the rocky terrain typical of this coastline.
