About this site
The MV Macdhui was a British-flagged steamship sunk by Japanese aircraft in 1942 in Basilisk Passage near Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, where it now rests as a wreck dive. It lies broken across the seabed in Port Moresby harbor, having been bombed on two separate occasions before finally going down. The wreck has become a habitat for fish life over the decades and is one of the better known dive sites accessible from Port Moresby. Given its depth and the broken, scattered nature of the hull, it is generally treated as a dive suited to those with some wreck diving experience rather than complete beginners.
