About this site
The MV Maverick is a former inter-island ferry that was sunk deliberately off the coast of Tobago in 2013 to create an artificial reef, coming to rest near Mt Irvine on the island's Caribbean side. The vessel is roughly 100 metres long and sits upright on a sandy bottom, making it one of the larger diveable wrecks in the region. Depths commonly reported are in the 20 to 30 metre range, with the shallower parts of the superstructure accessible to less experienced divers while the deeper sections and any current suit those with more wreck experience. Divers visiting it often note the developing coral and sponge growth on the hull along with schooling reef fish that have moved in since the sinking.
