About this site
Califórnia (Naufrágio do Califórnia) is the remains of a 40 m paddle steamer that sank at Praia Vermelha on the south-west coast of Ilha Grande. The wreck is broken up and largely buried in sand, with pistons, paddle wheels, part of the keel, the boiler and hull plating exposed between 5 and 15 m. Visibility is usually 5–10 m; an easy shallow wreck for all levels.
