North 9 Mile Reef Site lies off the Florida coast, in the waters east of St. Augustine near the mouth of the St. Johns River, roughly nine miles offshore as its name suggests. This section of Florida's Atlantic coastline features a mix of natural limestone ledges and patch reef, typical of the nearshore hard-bottom habitat found along this part of the state.
