North Horn

North Horn is a dive site at Osprey Reef, a remote coral atoll in the Coral Sea off the Queensland coast, reached by liveaboard rather than as part of the inshore Great Barrier Reef system. It is known for a dramatic wall dropping into deep water and for shark action, with grey reef sharks and sometimes silvertips and hammerheads drawn in by boat-based feeds historically run there. Verified figures put the main dive at a maximum depth of around 15 metres over reef, rated intermediate. Divers have also reported batfish and sweetlips moving through the site, and a strong northerly current at ebb tide has been noted as a hazard, consistent with the exposed, open-ocean setting of the atoll.
