South West Solitary Island is part of the Solitary Islands Marine Park off the coast of northern New South Wales, near Coffs Harbour, an area where warm subtropical currents from the north meet cooler temperate waters from the south. The Northern Gutters site refers to a system of gutters, or channels, cut into the rock and reef structure around the island.
