About this site
Ocean Revival is an artificial reef park off Portimão in the Algarve region, close to Lagos, created by intentionally sinking four decommissioned Portuguese Navy vessels in 2012. The ships were positioned near one another on a sandy bottom to form a connected wreck diving trail, with corvettes and a frigate among the vessels involved. Depths run to roughly 30 metres, with parts of the superstructures starting shallower, making some of the site accessible to divers with wreck training while the deeper penetration routes suit more experienced divers. The wrecks have been down for over a decade and have developed a covering of marine growth, drawing sponge divers and photographers as well as those interested in the naval history of the vessels themselves.
