About this site
Okishima is an island in Lake Biwa, Japan's largest freshwater lake, located off Omi-Hachiman in Shiga Prefecture. It sits in the lake's southern basin and is one of the few inhabited lake islands in the country, reached by ferry from the mainland. Diving around the island is a beginner-level freshwater dive with a maximum depth of around 10 metres, making it an easy site in the shallows near shore.
