About this site
The Olsen sits off the New Jersey coast in the New York Bight area of the Atlantic, on a reef structure that draws local dive boats out from shore. It is rated a beginner dive, with parts of the site running shallower than 5 feet, though boat traffic overhead and stronger current at the south end are worth watching for. Divers have reported angelfish, eagle rays, nurse sharks, parrotfish, and snapper around the site, an unusual mix for this stretch of the Atlantic.
