Onion Bay lies along the coast of Nusa Tenggara Barat, the province covering Lombok and Sumbawa in Indonesia's Lesser Sunda Islands, within a stretch of coastline known for its volcanic geology and channels that draw currents through the region's straits. The site itself is a beginner dive reaching a maximum depth of around 12 metres. Divers have reported batfish, clownfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, and sweetlips around the site.
