About this site
Paliton Sanctuary is a marine protected reef dive site located just in front of Paliton Beach on the island of Siquijor, Philippines. The reef runs from 5 metres down to a maximum of 27 metres and features a mix of hard and soft coral alongside a mini wall section, making it one of the most rewarding reef dives on the island.
The terrain combines a rich coral garden in the shallows with a mini wall at depth, where giant sponges and scorpion fish are regularly encountered. Ribbon eels and nudibranchs are found along the wall, and turtles are a consistent presence across the site. Schools of jack fish patrol the reef, while the upper coral garden — commonly used for the safety stop — holds schools of batfish and sweetlips.
Current can run strong at Paliton Sanctuary, so conditions should be assessed before entering. The site is accessed from the front of Paliton Beach and is rated suitable for beginners, though divers should be prepared for the stronger current when it is running.
