About this site
Paul's Reef is a natural ledge reef off Palm Beach. The ledge curves and turns along its length, with cuts and small drops that make it easy to follow on a drift. Tear Drop Reef lies just to the north, and the two are often dived as a pair. The reef lies in about 45 to 56 feet (14 to 17 m) of water. Hard and soft corals and large barrel sponges cover the ledge, and tropical reef fish work the cuts and overhangs. It is a boat dive, usually done as a drift along the ledge, with the boat following the group's float and picking divers up where they surface. Current strength varies with the Gulf Stream from day to day. The moderate depth makes Paul's Reef a good choice for Open Water divers who are comfortable drifting, and a good first Palm Beach reef.
