About this site
Paynes Bay Reef lies along the west coast of Barbados, a stretch known for calm, sheltered waters facing the Caribbean Sea rather than the rougher Atlantic side of the island. The bay sits near the town of Holetown and is lined with resorts and beaches, with reef structure extending offshore into the bay's waters. The reef here is a beginner dive reaching a maximum depth of around 8 metres, making it an easy, shallow site well suited to the calm conditions of the bay. Divers have also reported angelfish and parrotfish on the reef.
