Pedra Nova sits off Quarteira in the Algarve, where the Atlantic meets the Strait of Gibraltar. This rocky reef plunges to 30 meters, offering dramatic drop-offs and swim-throughs. Schools of barracuda and bream patrol the area, while octopus and moray eels hide in crevices. Strong currents bring nutrient-rich waters, attracting pelagics. Visibility often exceeds 20 meters. The site suits intermediate divers due to occasional surge. Nearby sandy patches host stingrays and flounders. Depth and structure create a dynamic dive with varied marine encounters.
