Piedras Blancas lies along the central California coast in San Luis Obispo County, near the point and lighthouse of the same name between San Simeon and the Big Sur coastline. This stretch of shoreline is exposed to open Pacific swell and is known more broadly for its kelp forests and the elephant seal colonies that haul out along the nearby beaches.
