About this site
Piscinas Naturais are natural reef pools located near Praia de Búzios and Pirangi in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, close to Natal. The pools form within recife formations (parrachos) that create sheltered, shallow basins ideal for snorkelling rather than scuba diving.
The bottom sits at a maximum depth of 2.7 m, making this a very shallow, calm-water site best visited at low to mid tide, when the natural pools are most accessible and defined. Visibility is poor, so conditions are not suited to photography-focused divers expecting clear water.
Marine life spotted here includes parrotfish, sergeant majors, trumpetfish, and fire worms among the reef structures.

Entry is from shore, and water shoes are strongly recommended due to the reef underfoot. A snorkel kit — mask, fins, and snorkel — is the appropriate equipment; scuba gear is not called for at this depth. Currents can run between reef sections, so these should be respected, and a buoyancy aid is advised if needed. The site is rated beginner level and is well suited to first-time snorkellers and families, though all visitors should check sea conditions on arrival and consider a guide if uncertain.
