Pleneau Island lies in the Wilhelm Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, near the Lemaire Channel. The waters around it are known for large drifting icebergs, often called an iceberg graveyard, grounded in the shallower bay by the surrounding islands.
