About this site
The Pollockshields was a German-built cargo steamer that ran aground on the reefs off the southeast coast of Bermuda, near Paget, in 1915 during a storm while under British registry carrying munitions. The wreck lies broken up in shallow water near the reef line, a scattered site rather than an intact hull, and its exposed position leaves it subject to surge and swell that has helped break it apart over the decades. Divers should expect a shallow site affected by current and surge rather than a deep dive. Divers have also reported common lionfish, Portuguese man o' war, and Sally Lightfoot crabs around the site, so care should be taken around the man o' war in particular.
