Porite Garden lies within the Pulau Payar Marine Park, off the coast of Kedah in northern Malaysia, a cluster of islands reached by boat from Langkawi or the mainland jetty at Kuala Kedah. The marine park is the main dive and snorkel destination in this part of the Strait of Malacca, and the site's name points to the coral cover, likely a garden of porites coral heads across the reef.
