About this site

Port Hughes Jetty is a shore dive off a jetty at Port Hughes in South Australia. It is a shallow site with a maximum depth of about 5 m (16 ft), which leaves plenty of time to cruise out to the end of the jetty and back again.

Marine life here is busy. Fish life is prolific, with large numbers of cowfish, and nudibranchs are everywhere. The pylons carry abundant, colourful growth, and the Sargassum algae around the edges adds more cover. That makes it a strong site for macro photography, and there is a chance of spotting seahorses among the growth on the pylons or in the Sargassum.

Access is easy. There is plentiful parking close to the jetty, and toilets with a cold water shower are nearby. The shallow depth and simple entry make it a relaxed dive for most levels.
