About this site
Portuguese Cove sits along the Nova Scotia coast near Halifax, on the Atlantic side of the province. It is a shallow site with a maximum depth of around 6.1 metres, generally considered suitable for beginners. A single source notes hazards including a cliff on the north side, large offshore swell, lobster boats and traps in the area, silt that can stir up and reduce visibility, and southeast winds affecting conditions, along with sightings of lobster and mackerel.
