Princesa Alice / Princess Alice Bank

Princess Alice Bank is a submerged seamount in the Azores archipelago, located south of Faial and Pico islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Its summit rises to within diving range of the surface, reaching around 32 metres at the shallowest point, while the surrounding seafloor drops away into deep open water, a formation typical of Azorean seamounts that draws pelagic marine life. Mackerel are a regular presence, and divers have also reported barracuda, triggerfish, tuna, whales, and even whale sharks passing through. Access is only by boat, typically on trips organized from Faial or Pico specializing in offshore seamount dives, and the site is rated advanced due to strong currents. Divers have also noted the remoteness of the location, the lack of visual references in open water, and its dependence on weather conditions.
