Proselyte

The Proselyte site lies off Sint Maarten in the Caribbean, named for HMS Proselyte, a Dutch-built frigate taken into British service that wrecked on the reef here in 1801. The remains are broken and scattered across a shallow reef area, with cannon and other iron fittings still visible among the coral growth, making it more a scattered debris field than an intact hull. The site tops out at around 5 metres, keeping it well within reach of most recreational divers including newer certifications. It sits close to Great Bay and Philipsburg and is commonly worked into shore or short boat dive itineraries out of Sint Maarten.
