About this site
Protector is a wreck site off the Al Bahr Al Ahmar coast of Sudan, in a stretch of Red Sea reef and offshore structure reached mainly by liveaboards operating out of Port Sudan. The area is known for steep drop-offs and coral formations rising from deep water along the Sudanese shelf. The dive is rated advanced, and divers here have reported hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, and thresher sharks passing through the surrounding water.
