About this site
Purse Seine Rock lies off San Clemente Island, one of the more remote of California's Channel Islands, west of the mainland in the Southern California Bight. Dive sites around this island are typically reached by boat, often on multi-day trips out of San Diego or Los Angeles harbors given the island's distance from the mainland coast. The site sits over a reef bottom and tops out at around 12.2 metres, making it a beginner dive. Divers have also reported California sea lions around the rock, and Risso's dolphins have been spotted passing through the area.
