Ray Hole lies along the Sinai coast near Nuweibaa, on the Gulf of Aqaba stretch of the Egyptian Red Sea, a section of coastline north of Dahab typically reached from shore or by short boat trips out of Nuweibaa. The site sits over a reef bottom, in keeping with the fringing reef structure common along this part of the gulf.
