About this site
Reef Ball Reef #1 sits off the Gulf coast of Florida, in the waters around 28.5°N, 82.98°W, near the Pinellas County shoreline. As the name suggests, it is an artificial reef built from reef balls, concrete structures deployed to create hard substrate for marine growth in an area of otherwise open sandy bottom. The site reaches a maximum depth of about 8 metres, making it a shallow dive suited to divers of varying experience levels.
