Remaiolo is a rock formation off the Island of Elba, Italy, offering two distinct scuba diving routes around and along its structure. Divers can choose to circumnavigate the rock, keeping to a relatively shallow depth of 10–20 metres, or follow the steep wall down the southern side to a maximum depth of 55 metres. The site is rated as advanced difficulty, with the bottom composed of rock.
The terrain varies considerably depending on which route is taken. The south-eastern face drops steeply and is cut through with crevices packed with life, including sponges, mollusks, the occasional crayfish, and red sea fans and sea whips deeper along the wall. A distinctive feature is an old fishing net wrapped around the rock that extends all the way to the bottom. The south-western slope is less steep before reaching the seabed. Both routes offer genuinely different experiences in terms of depth, relief, and marine life encountered.
The shallower circuit around the rock holds sea bream, saddled bream, damselfish, octopus, moray eels, conger eels, nudibranchs, and groupers. Closer inspection may reveal spider crabs and anglerfish. The deeper wall route rewards patient divers with crayfish, sponges, and mollusks within the crevices. The site's depth and demanding wall dive make it suited to advanced divers.
