About this site
The S. S. Milwaukee rests in Lake Michigan, a well-preserved shipwreck from the early 1900s. The wooden steamer sits upright at 90 feet, its structure intact with decks, railings, and cargo holds still visible. Schools of lake trout and perch hover around the wreck, while zebra mussels coat the hull. Strong currents and cold water make this a challenging dive, but visibility often exceeds 30 feet. The eerie atmosphere and historical significance draw divers to explore this piece of Great Lakes maritime history.
