S.s. Mohegan

The SS Mohegan was a passenger steamer of the Atlantic Transport Line that ran onto the Manacles reef off the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall in 1898, sinking quickly with heavy loss of life. The wreck lies broken up on a rocky seabed near the Manacles, an area known for its jagged granite reefs that have claimed numerous ships. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 29 metres, and the remains are scattered and encrusted after more than a century underwater. The Manacles are exposed to Channel currents and swell, so conditions can be demanding and the site is usually considered one for divers with some experience. Divers here have also reported frogfish among the wreckage.
