About this site
The San Pedro is a wreck site in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary off Indian Key, near Islamorada. It marks the remains of a Spanish merchant ship from the 1733 fleet that was wrecked by a hurricane while sailing from Havana to Spain. The site sits in shallow water, generally under 20 feet, with scattered ballast stones and replica cannons placed to mark the wreck's outline. Because of its shallow, calm setting, it is considered an easy dive suited to beginners and snorkelers as well as certified divers.
