About this site
Carriacou sits north of Grenada in the Grenadines chain, and Sandy Island is a small islet just off its western coast near Hillsborough. The waters around this islet are a common day-boat destination from Carriacou for both snorkeling and diving trips. Sandy Island Garden is a reef dive reaching a maximum depth of around 22 metres, rated as a beginner site. Divers have reported sea turtles here, and a great white shark sighting has also been noted, though that would be an unusual encounter for these waters.
