About this site

Scuba Bowl is a wall dive in Old Man Bay on the East End of Grand Cayman: a winding wall face with two large pinnacles and a massive mushroom formation resembling a church spire. The wall has ravines, ledges, channels and buttresses and is typically dived as a drift. It was named after a scuba promotional event held around the Super Bowl in January 1990.

The mooring is at 24 metres and the site reaches 30 metres, a little deeper than most of the other sites nearby. It is the most exposed of them, with nutrient upwellings and currents, and it is described as challenging to get on but rewarding.

Coral and sponges thrive on the nutrients. There are immense schools of fish, along with cubera snappers up to about a metre (three feet) long that move away at the merest hint of an approach.
