About this site
Shaab Samaka is a reef site on Egypt's Red Sea coast, near the Marsa Alam area based on its coordinates. It reaches a maximum depth of around 13 metres and is generally considered an intermediate dive over a reef bottom. Divers have described a drop off here with steep walls and stronger currents at times, so conditions can shift quickly from the shallower reef top. Sightings reported at the site include barracuda, tuna, wrasse and Napoleon wrasse, along with occasional hammerhead shark, manta ray and even whale shark.
