About this site
Shag Point offers a rocky reef dive with vibrant marine life in the cool waters of New Zealand's Otago coast. Expect playful fur seals darting through kelp forests, colorful nudibranchs, and occasional dolphins. The site features dramatic underwater cliffs, crevices, and boulders teeming with fish. Visibility varies but often reaches 10-15 meters. Strong surge can occur, making it ideal for experienced divers. The shallow areas near shore provide excellent snorkeling opportunities. Water temperatures range from 10-16°C, so a thick wetsuit or drysuit is essential. The site's accessibility from shore adds to its appeal.
