Shark City lies within Coiba National Park, off the Pacific coast of Panama in Veraguas province, an area protected for its remote reefs and strong marine biodiversity. Coiba's waters are known for pelagic encounters, and sites in this park are generally reached by boat from Santa Catalina or from operators based near the park boundary. Currents around Coiba's rocky outcrops and seamounts tend to be a significant factor in how any given site there is dived. Divers at Shark City have reported a great white shark passing through, though sightings of that species here are not the norm for the park's usual pelagic traffic.
