About this site
Shark Harbor sits on the back side (west end) of Santa Catalina Island, off the Southern California coast, in a less developed stretch reached mainly by boat rather than from the main harbor towns of Avalon or Two Harbors. The site takes its name from the cove itself rather than any particular hazard. This side of the island faces the open Pacific, exposing it to more swell and wind than the sheltered leeward coast.
