Shark Reef lies in the Red Sea off Jeddah, on Saudi Arabia's western coast, reached by boat from the city's coastal marinas where the shelf gives way to deeper Red Sea water. The reef tops out at a shallow maximum depth of around 10 metres, but it is rated an advanced dive rather than a beginner one, which points to conditions such as current or exposure rather than depth being the main challenge here.
