About this site

Short Drop-Off is a wall dive in the Rock Islands of Palau, near Ngeruktabel, and is one of the well known reef walls in this area. The wall starts in shallow water and drops into deep blue, with soft corals and gorgonian fans along the face, reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres and rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported barracuda, hammerhead sharks, nurse sharks, reef sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, trevally, and even whale sharks passing along the drop-off. Visibility is typically very good given the exposure to open channel water. Divers usually work the top of the wall in the shallower range before dropping deeper along the vertical face, and currents here can pick up, calling for solid drift diving skill.
