About this site
The Siuslaw River meets the Pacific Ocean at Florence, on the central Oregon coast, its mouth and jetty area shaped by tidal exchange between ocean swell and the estuary behind the town. This is an estuarine river system rather than a typical dive destination, with the mixing of fresh and salt water making conditions here variable. Divers have reported harbor seals around the river mouth, along with sightings of Victoria's crystal jelly in the water column.
