About this site
Oostvoornse Meer is a former tidal inlet in the Netherlands, near Oostvoorne in South Holland, cut off from the North Sea by the Europoort works and now a saltwater lake used heavily for diving and other water sports. Sunken objects, including wrecks, have been placed in the lake at various points to give divers something to explore, and the Slag Stormvogel appears to be one of these placed attractions rather than a site with an independent maritime history of its own. The lake is enclosed and shallow to moderate in depth compared to open sea diving, and is popular partly because it offers accessible, controlled conditions close to Rotterdam.
