About this site
Snake Reef lies off Rivière Noire on the southwest coast of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean southeast of Madagascar, and is reached by boat from the coastal town. It reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres. Divers have reported lionfish, scorpionfish, and stonefish here, so care around the reef bottom is worthwhile, and manta rays have also been spotted passing through.
