About this site
Souda Rock is a boat dive site located a short distance from the harbour near Souda Bay, Crete, made up of multiple rocks that break the surface. The site was one of the first boat dives explored in the area, chosen for its easy access and naturally sheltered position from westerly movement.
The terrain is rocky with fun canyons to swim through at shallow depth, with a maximum depth of 10 metres at the main site. More advanced divers can extend the dive to the nearby Moray Eel Rock, which reaches 27 metres. The reef offers enough structure to comfortably complete a safety stop by hanging around the reef at 5 metres rather than ascending directly under the boat.
Marine life at Souda Rock includes high densities of feather starfish throughout the site, along with moray eels particularly at Moray Eel Rock. The verified marine life for the site also includes sardines, groupers, octopuses, seahorses, broad-nosed pipefish, stingrays, cuttlefish, and nudibranchs.

The site is reached by boat and suits beginner divers thanks to its shallow depth, sheltered conditions, and straightforward layout. The reef structure makes it a relaxed, exploratory dive with plenty to observe at easy depths.
