South Miniloc is a dive site located in Bacuit Bay, El Nido, in the waters south of Miniloc Island — an area roughly 45 minutes from El Nido town. The terrain is described as a flat reef with slopes on both sides, featuring cabbage coral gardens and bommies, with the reef extending from a shallowest point of around 5 m down to a maximum of 43 m (verified at 41.5 m).
The reef holds a wide range of marine life, with hawksbill and green turtles among the most frequently encountered species. Schools of big-eye yellow snappers and barracuda gather around the bommies and ledges, and ribbon eels, juvenile yellow boxfish, featherstars, anemonefish, and a variety of reef fish are regularly seen. Spotted eagle rays are occasionally sighted in the area. The site also rewards macro photographers looking among the corals.
Visibility at South Miniloc is typically good, running 10–25 m outside the monsoon months. Currents are generally mild but can produce brief surges; divers are briefed on calmer anchor points to manage these. The site suits all certified divers across most of the profile, with the depth range accommodating Open Water students in the shallower gardens and more experienced divers on the deeper bommies and slopes.
Early morning is the favoured time to dive here, when light conditions are best for photography. The combination of manageable currents, broad depth range, and consistent marine life makes South Miniloc a reliable choice for mixed-ability groups throughout the season.
