South Sands lies along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline of South Africa, on the South Coast stretch of the Indian Ocean south of Durban, where boat launches from local towns give access to nearby reefs. The site itself sits over a sand bottom, reaching a maximum depth of around 14 metres, and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have also reported mackerel passing through the area.
